André Dignimont

Illustrator, painter, and engraver

(1891-Paris-1965)

André Dignimont was a French painter, draftsman, engraver, and illustrator.

After serving in World War I, he devoted himself to illustration and painting.                                              He became known in the 1920s and 1930s for his book illustrations and drawings depicting Parisian life: cabarets, theater, elegant women, and social scenes.

His style is characterized by lively, elegant lines, often tinged with humor. He illustrated works by writers such as Colette.

Recognized for his work as an illustrator, he was elected to the Académie des Beaux-Arts in 1955. His work remains associated with the lighthearted and refined spirit of artistic Paris between the two world wars.
