Moustachu is a fine example of the beginning of the Retour à L’Ordre in Picasso. The artist developed this classic way especially in the early twenties with his famous Ingresque Period. This theme, the male character with mustache, appears in Picasso's work in the summer of 1914 during his stay in Avignon, notably in a painting that remained unfinished, The Painter and his Model, kept by the artist all his life and now at the Picasso Museum. , Paris. At the same time, Picasso also treated the subject of the mustache man in a Cubist fashion. In our drawing, the Cézanian influence is evident.
